Both the Self-Tailored Pathway (traditional route) and the CGMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP) lead to the same globally recognised CGMA® designation. But the way you study, pay fees, and progress through your exams can be very different. Choosing the right pathway can save you time, money, and stress and make the journey fit your lifestyle.

What are the Two Pathways?

Self-Tailored Pathway (Traditional Route)

You progress through all CIMA exams (Objective Tests and Case Studies) in the order you choose, using textbooks, tuition, or self-study. You control the pace, mix of classes, and exam dates.

CGMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP)

A fully digital learning experience where you complete competency-based modules online. No Objective Tests — only Case Study exams. Access to all learning resources is covered by one annual subscription fee.

Can I Switch Between Routes?
Yes. Many students begin on the Self-Tailored pathway and later move to FLP, or vice versa. Credits you have earned are transferred, depending on your progress. Our team will guide you through your options if you want to switch.

It depends on your pace. FLP can be more cost-effective if you progress quickly. Self-Tailored may work better if you need more time or prefer paying per subject.

Yes. CharterQuest offers flexible instalment options for the Self-Tailored Pathway and also for FLP.

  • Self-tailored pathway, you can pay 20% deposit and pay the balance over 6 months. 

  • CGMA FLP Pathway, you can pay 60% deposit and pay the balance over 4 months (Access to CGMA FLP LMS is granted upon full payment.

Yes — Case Study exams remain mandatory in both pathways. You take the same Case study exam in both pathways.
